Strategic Plan to Respond to Homelessness In Shasta County
On July 13, 2016 the “Strategic Plan to Respond to Homelessness in Shasta County” was presented to over 150 community members. The Strategic Plan proposes a cohesive set of strategies that will provide a roadmap for our community and decision-makers to address the issue of homelessness in Shasta County with a sense of urgency, and of hope.
The Strategic Plan's priorities and action steps grew out of a series of community workshops, stakeholder meetings, and online feedback opportunities for the past 6 months. Click here to read the full report.

Cost of Homelessness in Shasta County is estimated at $34.2 Million
On June 8th, 2016 the Redding Area Homelessness Coalition Project presented their findings from a report created by Homebase. The results can be found in this snapshot of the findings. Lloyd S. Pendleton, “Housing First” Forum | February 2016
Over 500 community members attended the February 11, 2016 presentation titled “How Utah Implemented “Housing First” and Reduced Homelessness”. Lloyd S. Pendleton, Former Director of the Homeless Task Force for the State of Utah, shared information about the State of Utah’s strategy that has essentially solved chronic homelessness while saving millions of taxpayers’ dollars.
The Forum was presented by The Women’s Fund of the Shasta Regional Community Foundation in collaboration with the Shasta Community Health Center and the Record Searchlight.
RAHCP Homelessness Informational Workshop | December 2015
On December 16 about 100 community members attended the Homelessness Informational Workshop. A twelve member panel presented information about homelessness and housing definitions, and information about local existing programs, including housing case management, supportive services, City and County housing funding programs, code enforcement and medical care services. Additionally we received information about the Point In Time Homeless Count. The Shasta County Arts Council recored the workshop, so feel free to watch it below.

The Redding Area Homelessness Coalition Project | November 2015
Release of the Phase 1 Reports and Recommendations
The Project has employed skilled consultants who have relevant expertise and experience. HomeBase, The Center for Common Concerns, along with Symmetric Solutions, are providing proven techniques that facilitate data-based analysis and identification of best practice solutions.
Phase 1 Reports and Recommendations have been developed by technical assistance providers HomeBase and Symmetric Solutions. The Reports are independent objective evaluations of the Redding Shasta Homeless Continuum of Care and Homeless Management Information System (HMIS) data collection system. They also include community feedback and stakeholder input. The Reports present targeted strategies for strengthening the Redding/Shasta County homeless response to make meaningful progress toward addressing homelessness.
Information in the Reports include recommendations that will be discussed during the Strategic Planning Process beginning January 2016

Redding Area Homelessness Coalition Project (RAHCP)
The Redding Area Homelessness Coalition Project was formed in May 2015 to address the need to develop a strategic response to homelessness. It is a great challenge but not an unsolvable one.
