Each year United Way of Northern California joins many non-profit organizations for North State Giving Tuesday, a one-day-only online giving event, held the Tuesday after Thanksgiving.
In October & November 2016 we featured bi-weekly videos on our Facebook page. These videos highlighted the ways that United Way helps the community through programs, projects and collaboration. See our videos below and be sure to join us for North State Giving Tuesday in 2017!
Day 1: 2-1-1 & Families
Did you know that our United Way operates two 24/7 helplines, one in Shasta County and one in Tehama County? 2-1-1 (http://211norcal.org/) is your gateway to helpful resources and is available in 150 different langauges. Learn more about how 2-1-1 helps families in the video below.
Day 2: The Prosperity Initiative- Developing Our Youth
Roughly 14% of children in our community are living in poverty. At United Way we believe that the youth are our future and we are committed to creating better outcomes for our families through the Prosperity Initiative. Learn more about our plans for Shasta County youth in the video below.
Day 3: United Way's Partner Agencies
Did you know that United Way of Northern California provides grants to non-profit organizations whose work alligns with our mission?
In 2017, we will supply 22 agencies with more than $120,000 in Community Investment grants and several others will receive funds through other initiatives. Learn more in the video below.
Day 4: 2-1-1 NorCal, We Can Help!
211 NorCal is a free phone number and online database that connects community members to resources they need, 24/7 and in 150 different languages. To access, simply dial 2-1-1 from any phone in Shasta or Tehama counties (also available in Butte County, courtesy of Butte 211). Learn more about this program in the video below.
Day 5: The Prosperity Initiative- Improving Workforce Readiness
The Prosperity Initiative is an ongoing effort to find and produce greater economic mobility opportunities for residents of Shasta County. Learn about the ways this initiative will help improve workforce readiness in the video below.
Day 6: Corporate Partners
Our Corporate Partners contribute more than money. Their ideas, volunteer power, in-kind support, and more are helping to build stronger communities in our region. Learn more about corporate partners and the roles they play in the video below.
Day 7: Fiscal Agencies
Our mission is to improve lives in the North State by mobilizing and integrating resources to advance the common good in our communities, focus on the building blocks for a good life: Education, Financial Stability, and Health. Day 8: Workplace Giving
Hundreds of local community members have pledged to donate through Workplace Giving campaigns, which allow them to donate a small amount of each check to the work we do at United Way. Learn more about Workplace Giving in the video below.
Day 9: Volunteer NorCal
At United Way we believe the best way to LIVE UNITED is to support your community, by giving, advocating and....VOLUNTEERING!
