KEEP MORE OF YOUR HARD-EARNED MONEY, FILE YOUR TAXES FOR FREE!
File taxes for FREE with the Internal Revenue Service's Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program, available to qualifying Shasta County residents.
VITA is brought to you by United Way of Northern California with support from Redding Bank of Commerce. The VITA program offers tax preparation and e-filing to individuals and families who make less than $60,000 a year
and is administered with the help of volunteers who are trained and certified according to IRS standards.
VITA helps put earnings back in the pockets of low- to moderate-income workers in the form of tax refunds and tax credits. The free service also saves taxpayers the expense of tax preparation services, which average about $300. With more money in your pocket, you’ll be on your way to saving toward a better future.
VITA tax preparation will be held by appointment only. To make an appointment, call 530-241-7521, ex 101 or CLICK HERE to email.
California Earned Income Tax Credit
Households earning less than $54,000 may qualify for up to $6,000 cash back in California and federal Earned Income Tax Credits (EITC) – but only if you file your taxes!
California and federal EITC are refundable credits available to low-to-moderate income individuals and families.
These cash-back credits are designed to put money in the pockets of low-income working families and individuals. Claiming this credit is easy. Eligible taxpayers just need to file a tax return.
Many more families are now eligible for the California EITC. Starting with the 2017 tax year, families earning up to $22,300 may qualify for CalEITC, which is a dramatic increase of the upper income limit over past years.
Plus, for the first time, those who earned self-employment income in 2017 may qualify.
