Planned Giving

When you include United Way of Northern California in your long-term giving plans, you create a lasting impact that continues for generations to come.

Types of Planned Giving

Legacy giving options include:

  • Bequest through your will or living trust.

  • Outright gifts of cash or securities to the endowment.

  • Personal property or real estate.

  • Name United Way of Northern California as a beneficiary of a retirement plan, life insurance policy, or investment account.

  • An IRA charitable rollover allows individuals aged 70½ or older to lower their taxable income from IRA withdrawals by directly transferring up to $105,000 to a nonprofit, which can also fulfill the Required Minimum Distribution (RMD) for those 72 or older. This transfer is tax-free and is not capped by charitable gift deductions.

Let us help you with your gift plans!

Your gift helps us keep vital services available to our community, including our 211 NorCal 24/7 helpline, the South Market Micro Shelter Community, Disaster Services, and VITA free tax-prep.
